Abstract
The microenvironment of montmorillonite K 10 clay and its various cati on-exchanged forms, promote the formation of an unexpected product, p- nitrosodiphenyl amine, from N-phenylhydroxylamine rather than the typi cal Bamberger products, aminophenols. A plausible mechanism for the un usual formation of p-nitrosodiphenyl amine is proposed.
