This paper presents an investigation into the polarization behaviour o
f a Single Fed Circularly Polarized (SFCP) square-shaped microstrip pa
tch antenna covered with dielectric superstrate, Circular polarization
is obtained using a coaxial feed and perturbation segments at the cor
ners of the patch. A full wave analysis method based on the Mixed Pote
ntial Integral Equation (MPIE) is used to predict impedance and polari
zation behaviour of the antenna. Experimental results are presented an
d show a good agreement with the theoretical results. A 7 % impedance
bandwidth (for VSWR less than or equal to 2) and a 2 % ellipticity ban
dwidth with a minimum axial ratio of 0.323 dB are obtained for this an
tenna.
