Su. Son et al., A WATER-SOLUBLE RHODIUM COMPLEX AS A CATALYST PRECURSOR FOR THE HYDROFORMYLATION OF OLEFINS, Journal of molecular catalysis. A, Chemical, 135(1), 1998, pp. 35-39
The first synthesis of a water-soluble cationic (sugar-substituted are
ne)rhodium complex has been described. The water-soluble cationic rhod
ium complex was synthesized by the reaction of an ethanol solution of
[Rh(COD)Cl](2) with AgBF4 and then with phenyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside.
This water-soluble rhodium complex acts as a catalyst precursor for t
he hydroformylation of olefins in a two-phase (water and hexane) syste
m and displays high regioselectivity and high conversion to branched-c
hain aldehydes. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
