Abstract
56 races of Puccinia recondita Rob. ex Desm f. sp. tritici have been r eported for southern Ukraine during 1988-1996. Race 77 has been found to dominate. Virulence to bread wheat lines 4/64-91, 5/55-91, 5/81-91 and 8/16-91 has not been detected in the population. The virulence to carrier genes LR9 and Lr19 have bad the low frequency and was observed for the first time in 1994. The frequency of virulance to Lr genes ha s been as following: Lr24 - 5-25%, Lr25 - 50-87, Lr26 - 39-50, Lr15 - 41-61, Lr29 - 48-70 %. The frequency of virulence to Lr1, Lr2a, Lr2b, Lr2c, Lr3a, Lr3bg, Lr3ka, Lr10, Lr11, Lr12, Lr13, Lr14a, Lr14b, Lr16, Lr17. Lr18, Lr20, Lr21, Lr22, Lr23, Lr30 genes reached 83-97%.
