Abstract
Proteins tightly bound with DNA and protecting it from endonucleases w ere revealed in the transcribed regions of human ribosomal genes. In c omplex with rDNA, their DNA-binding domains cannot be hydrolyzed with proteinase K even under denaturing conditions. The complexes remain st able in the presence of detergents and under high ionic strength. Tigh tly bound proteins were detected in several DNA regions along the enti re transcribed sequence of some ribosomal gene copies in all tested in dividuals; their presence showed no tissue specificity.
