O. Panoudiamandi et al., A ONE-LAYER TISSUE FLUORESCENCE MODEL-BASED ON ELECTROMAGNETIC THEORY, Journal of electromagnetic waves and applications, 12(8), 1998, pp. 1101-1121
An innovative rigorous analysis of tissue fluorescence is presented ba
sed on electromagnetic theory. Tissue fluorescence has been approached
as an inelastic scattering phenomenon via the formulation of the pola
rization vector of the medium. The general method described has been a
pplied to a tissue model, where tissue is represented as a single, hom
ogeneous, infinitely thick, dielectric layer, under plane wave excitat
ion. Experiments using tissue-phantoms have been performed in order to
validate our fully evaluated theoretical results.
