The beta decay of the neutron-deficient isotope In-103 was investigate
d by using total absorption gamma-ray spectrometry on mass-separated s
ources. The measurement reveals a high-lying resonance of the beta-dec
ay strength in striking disagreement with high-resolution gamma-ray da
ta. The result is discussed in comparison with shell-model predictions
