The diffusion coefficient of single particles in the presence of Ehrli
ch-Schwoebel barriers (ESBs) is considered. An exact expression is giv
en for the diffusion coefficient on linear chains with disordered arra
ngements of the ESBs. This expression is applied to the usual ESBs, wh
ere the previous result for the ordered case is recovered, acid to a m
ore complicated form of ESBs. The results are extended to surfaces hav
ing ESBs with uniform extension in one or both directions. All results
