F. Lantelme et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF TITANIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS IN VARIOUS ALKALI CHLORIDE MIXTURES, Electrochimica acta, 44(2-3), 1998, pp. 421-431
The stability ranges of the various oxidation states of titanium ions
infused alkali chlorides were studied by electrochemical techniques. T
he thermodynamic properties of solutions were calculated and the Gibbs
energy of formation of titanium solutions was determined. The presenc
e of strong donors of chloride ions such as cesium chloride enhances t
he stability of the high oxidation states. The results are interpreted
in terms of formation of chlorocomplexes. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science L
