The relation between the sound reflection coefficients measured at the
sea bottom at fixed grazing angles and a fixed frequency and the char
acteristics of the sediment layer and the underlying halfspace is cons
idered. Based on this relation, a method of the reconstruction of the
sea bottom characteristics is developed for a bottom model in the form
of a sediment layer overlying an elastic halfspace. Using this model,
the reconstruction of the characteristics of a layered elastic bottom
is performed from the experimental dependences of sound reflection lo
ss.
