Abstract
Chelating ligands derived from thiophene-2-aldehyde and o-phenylenedia mine (talophen) or tn-phenylenediamine (talmphen) have been synthesize d. The complexes of Cu-II and Ni-II have been isolated. [Cu(talophen)( 2)]Cl-2, [Cu(talmphen)(2)]Cl-2, [Ni(talophen)(2)]Cl-2, [Ni(talmphen)(2 )]Cl-2 are diamagnetic and square planar, Other Cu-II and Ni-II comple xes show mu(eff) indicative of their distorted octahedral or octahedra l nature.
