Single crystals of octadecyl hydrogen succinate (OHS, 2d = 90.94 angst
rom) up to 70 x 30 x 1.0 mm3 in size have been grown by the solution c
ooling method. The crystal data and x-ray diffraction characteristic p
arameters Of OHS were determined. The results of measuring normal samp
les of carbon and boron using OHS in an electron probe spectrometer ar
e reported and compared with those obtained using the soap film 'pseud
o-crystal' of lead stearate (STE).
