The information system on resistance of bacteria to antibiotics (WARN-
World Antibiotic Resistance Network) is implemented as a WWW sen-er at
Charles University in Prague (http://www.warn.cas.cz). Its main goal
is to give information about problems of antibiotic resistance of bact
eria and to process data on isolated strains. The WARN web-site contai
ns sis main topics. Four of them form the core of the system: Topics o
f Interest bring information on selected timely topics in antibiotic r
esistance-pneumococci, staphylococci, beta-lactamases, glycopeptide-an
d aminoglycoside resistance. Global Monitor brings references and repo
rts on resistance in the world as well as recommended method of survei
llance. The topic Data contains raw data on strains in particular coun
tries and hospitals. Data can be viewed in their original form as a li
st of records (strains) or processed to provide statistics about the r
esistance rates in the selected country or hospital respectively. The
topic Search allows one to search for one or several terms in the whol
e document. Counts of accessed pages show, that there is a standing de
mand for information about the serious problems of antibiotic therapy
of infectious diseases.
