Abstract
It is now well established that the ubiquity of ''iron'' through the E arth's crust has an important influence upon the coloration of the geo logical material. The existence of numerous beddings, presenting more or less intense colorations, found in the different flowstones, led us to titrate ''Iron'' in studied samples. Indeed, other coloured chemica l species linked to the soil. such as humic acids, could be trapped in the calcitic matrix. Their contribution to the coloration was therefo re evaluated.
