L. Rousseau et al., EVALUATION OF THE RESPECTIVE INFLUENCE OF HUMIC ACIDS AND FERRIC OXIDES UPON THE COLORING OF FLOWSTONES, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2, Mecanique, physique, chimie, sciences de l'univers, sciences de la terre, 317(3), 1993, pp. 367-370
It is now well established that the ubiquity of ''iron'' through the E
arth's crust has an important influence upon the coloration of the geo
logical material. The existence of numerous beddings, presenting more
or less intense colorations, found in the different flowstones, led us
to titrate ''Iron'' in studied samples. Indeed, other coloured chemica
l species linked to the soil. such as humic acids, could be trapped in
the calcitic matrix. Their contribution to the coloration was therefo
re evaluated.
