S. Dollfus et al., FAMILY HISTORY AND OBSTETRIC COMPLICATIONS IN DEFICIT AND NON-DEFICITSCHIZOPHRENIA - PRELIMINARY-RESULTS, European psychiatry, 13(5), 1998, pp. 270-272
The aim of this study was to test that deficit (D) schizophrenic patie
nts as defined by Carpenter et al had a higher prevalence of family hi
story of schizophrenia but less obstetric complications than non-defic
it (ND) patients. A lower rate of obstetric complications but an exces
s of schizophrenic and a higher rate of alcoholism family antecedents
in 18 D patients compared to 23 ND patients were found. These results
could suggest that there is a different weight of genetic and early en
vironmental factors in D and ND patients. (C) 1998 Elsevier, Paris.
