Though response of neurons is mainly decided by synaptic events, the l
ength of a time window for the neuronal response has still not been cl
arified. In this paper, we analyse the time window within which a neur
on processes synaptic events, on the basis of the Hodgkin-Huxley equat
ions. Our simulation show's that an active membrane property makes neu
rons' behavior complex, and that a few milliseconds is plausible as th
e time window. A neuron seems to detect coincidence synaptic events in
such a time window.
