The method that was earlier developed for solving the problem of the e
lectrodiffusion transfer through a heterogeneous ion-exchange membrane
is modified. The procedures to obtain simpler mathematical solutions
are found. These procedures not only decrease the computation time, bu
t give the opportunity to deeply understand the essence of the process
es occurring in the membrane during the passing of the current and dif
fusion. The novel approach is used to further analyze such parameters
as the current efficiency on the membrane, ohmic losses, the concentra
tion profile, etc. The results of this study may serve as a theoretica
l basis for solving the problem of registration and certification of i
on-exchange membranes used in the practical electrodialysis.
