Sv. Gnedenkov et al., PROPERTIES OF COATINGS FORMED ON TITANIUM BY MICROARC OXIDATION IN HYPOPHOSPHITE-ALUMINATE ELECTROLYTES, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 34(9), 1998, pp. 940-945
The influence, exerted by changes that occur in hypophosphite-aluminat
e electrolytes with their aging on the composition, zone structure, an
d the semiconductor, electrochemical, and protective properties of lay
ers formed on titanium by microarc oxidation in such electrolytes, are
studied by measuring the volt-farad and current-voltage curves and by
employing modern analytical techniques intended for the investigation
of solutions and solids' surfaces. The experimental results and the m
odels proposed are used to explain the reasons for a considerable decr
ease in the corrosion currents of steel contacting in sea water titani
um, whose surface was treated by microarc oxidation in a hypophosphite
-aluminate electrolyte.
