THIOMETHYLATION OF KETONES AND SOME PROPERTIES OF THE RESULTING PRODUCTS

Thiomethylation of ketones (cyclopentanone, 2,4-dichloroacetophenone, methyl vinyl ketone, and methyl cyclopropyl ketone) with alkanethiols (butanethiol, pentanethiol, and octanethiol) was studied. A method was developed for preparing sulfur-containing vinyl ketone. Extraction of noble metals [Au(III), Pt(II, IV), Pd(II), Rh(III), Ir(IV)] from hydr ochloric and nitric acid solutions with 4,4-bis(butylthiomethyl)but-1- en-3-one, 2,2-bis(butylthiomethyl)cyclopropylethanone, 2,5-bis(butylth iomethyl)cyclopentanone, and 2-(butylthiomethyl)cyclopentanone was stu died.
