N. Stanica et P. Osiceanu, DENSITY OF UNOCCUPIED STATES IN SOME OF THE 3D ELEMENTS FROM APPEARANCE-POTENTIAL SPECTRA, Revue roumaine de chimie, 43(5), 1998, pp. 399-404
A deconvolution method has, been used to derive the densities of unoccu
pied states in Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni from the experimental soft X-ray appeara
nce potential spectra of their 2p(3/2) core levels. The higher 4s stat
es exhibit a bandlike character in the APS derived density of states (
DoS). The data processing is based on a least-squares method using spl
ine function formalism. Although APS essentially probes a localized Do
S there is good agreement with single-particle band structure calculat
ions.
