Ve. Guterman et al., MATHEMATICAL-MODEL OF THE HETEROGENEOUS SOLID-PHASE ELECTROCHEMICAL INTERCALATION OF LITHIUM INTO ALUMINUM, Kinetics and catalysis, 39(4), 1998, pp. 469-475
A computational model of the heterogeneous solid-phase electrochemical
intercalation of lithium into aluminum was developed. The model is ba
sed on numerical methods and allows one to find a rate law that accoun
ts for nucleation and the number, critical size, rate, and nature of g
rowing nuclei of a new phase. The sensitivity of the model to various
parameters was analyzed. The model allows the calculation of nucleatio
n of a new phase as shown by the experimental study of the kinetics of
electrochemical intercalation of lithium into aluminum to form an int
ermetallic compound.
