DYEING OF POLYESTER FIBERS USING ULTRASOUND

Ultrasound has been used in the dyeing of polyester fibres with disper se dyes at low temperature, and results compared with those achievable in conventional dyeing at the boil using a carrier. Dyeings were enha nced in presence of carrier and by pre-swelling the fibres, although t he results obtained were not generally as good as those that can be ob tained in conventional high-temperature processes. Taking into account the energy conservation aspect, ultrasound appears to be a promising technique for dyeing.
