Dehydracetic acid is proposed as a sensitive reagent for the luminesce
nce determination of terbium in lanthanide oxides with a detection lim
it of 1 x 10(-5)% (in La2O3). The optimum luminescence conditions have
been found, the solvent effects have been studied, and the structure
of the resulting chalet is suggested. It is shown that terbium can be
determined in the presence of luminescence-quenching elements, and the
threshold concentrations of these elements have been determined.
