This report describes a 61-year-old patient on chronic hemodialysis wi
th multiple, left-sided, intracardiac masses causing intermittent coro
nary obstruction. Mitral valve replacement was performed. Massive depo
sition of calcium pyroyhosphate crystals in and around the valve cusps
led to the diagnosis of tophaceous pseudogout (tumoral calcinosis) of
the mitral valve. (Ann Thorac Surg 1998;66:952-4) (C) 1998 by The Soc
