The coupling of size-exclusion chromatography with ICP-MS is shown to
be an attractive technique to study the binding of cadmium and copper
by phytochelatins in plant cell suspension cultures incubated with the
se metals. Electrospray mass spectrometry enabled to identify the meta
l binding compounds: (gamma-Glu-Cys)(2)-Gly and (gamma-Glu-Cys)(2).
