Abstract
A Lipid compound was isolated from a hexane antiinflammatory extract o f the Spanish herb Sideritis javalambrensis Pan. It was evaluated for antiinflammatory activity in vivo and in vitro. This compound prevente d carrageenan-induced inflammation in rats, acting on the exudate and also reducing the number of leukocytes. Modifications of neutrophil en zyme secretion (beta-glucuronidase) in vitro may contribute to its ant iinflammatory profile. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
