Abstract

We have analyzed <(Omega)over bar>(+) and Omega(-) events produced in the inclusive reaction p + Be-->Omega + X and have measured some prope rties of the <(Omega)over bar>(+) and Omega(-) hyperons via the decay Omega-->Lambda K-->p pi K. The measured <(Omega)over bar>(+) lifetime was tau(<(Omega)over bar>)=(0.823+/-0.038) X 10(-10) s (chi(2)/N-DF=1. 52), and the measured decay parameter was alpha<(Omega)over bar>=0.017 +/-0.077 (X-2/N-DF=1.74). The corresponding values for the Omega(-) w ere tau(Omega) = (0.817+/-0.022) x 10(-10) s (chi(2)/N-DF=1.17) and al pha(Omega) = -0.028+/-0.047 (chi(2)/N-DF=1.49). In addition, the measu rement of the normalized mass difference between the <(Omega)over bar> (+) and Omega(-) yielded Delta M-Omega/M-Omega = (1.44+/-7.98) X 10(-5 ).
