Abstract
Three new guaianolides, namely 11,13 epoxydehydrocostuslactone, 11,13 epoxyisozaluzanin C and 11,13 epoxy-3-keto dehydrocostus-lactone were isolated from the petrol extract of powdered costus roots (Saussurea l appa). The structures of the new compounds have been deduced from spec tral data and chemical transformations. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
