FRAGMENTATION PATTERNS OF ZIRCONOCENE AND HAFNOCENE DIALCOHOLATES CONTAINING MENTHANE AND BICYCLO[3.1.1]HEPTANE MOIETIES

The electron ionization mass spectrometric behaviour of a new series o f hafnocene and zirconocene dialcoholates is discussed. Deprotonized m oieties of menthol, verbenol and hydroxypinanone were used as sigma-li gands. These data are also compared to those of mass-analysed ion kine tic energy spectrometry, The fragmentation pattern of the complexes in question gives relevant information on their gas-phase behaviour and on the influence of the ligand's structure on the decomposition pathwa ys as well.
