Abstract
An ab initio fully relativistic approach to the calculation of conduct ion-electron g-factors in metals is presented. The electron magnetic m oment tensor is determined by evaluating the matrix elements of the re lativistic magnetic moment operator with the wave functions of the ful ly relativistic linear muffin-tin orbital LMTO method. Calculations of the g-factors for cyclotron orbits in noble metals using this new app roach resolve a long-standing problem in the interpretation of the exp erimental data.
