R. Romeromendez et al., ENHANCEMENT OF HEAT-TRANSFER IN AN INVISCID-FLOW THERMAL-BOUNDARY-LAYER DUE TO A RANKINE VORTEX, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 41(23), 1998, pp. 3829-3840
The effect on heat transfer of a Rankine vortex located near a hat pla
te is studied analytically. The velocity field is a superposition of a
n inviscid, uniform flow and a secondary perturbation created by the v
ortex. Three different vortex configurations are analyzed: transverse,
longitudinal and normal with respect to the plate. In general, an inc
rease in the local heat transfer coefficient is observed in the downwa
sh and a decrease in the upwash regions. The transverse vortex leads t
o a larger increase than the longitudinal configuration. The normal vo
rtex has a slight decrease in the heat transfer. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sci
