The double-cluster [S2B18H19]- anion, from the [syn-B18H21](-) anion a
nd elemental sulfur, has an eleven-vertex arachno-type subcluster with
a {B-7} hexagonal planar-based pyramidal feature that reversibly disa
ssembles and reassembles upon protonation followed by deprotonation.
