H. Leonhard et al., CORROSION MONITORING BY MEANS OF ELECTROCHEMICAL NOISE AN EXAMPLE FROM THE CHEMICAL-INDUSTRY, Werkstoffe und Korrosion, 49(9), 1998, pp. 684-690
Recently the registration of the electrochemical noise has become a me
aningful method in corrosion monitoring to recognize the occurence of
a local corrosion process immediately and relate it to the momentary c
onditions in the plant. The described device NDU (Noise Detection Unit
) is a new development which was constructed for harzardous location u
se in a chemical plant. After a description of the device the measurin
g sensors are presented. The interpretation of the results is explaine
d on data obtained from the duplex stainless steel SAF 2507. Finally m
easurements performed on probes of steel XGCrNiMoTi17-12-2 are describ
ed. They were recorded over a longer period of time and related to the
conditions in the plant.
