Ca. Brewer et D. Shevlin, ENCOURAGING RESPONSE OF AN ADVANCED STEROID-CELL TUMOR TO GNRH AGONIST THERAPY, Obstetrics and gynecology, 92(4), 1998, pp. 661-663
Background: Chemotherapy for steroid tumors of unspecified type has me
t with limited success and the overall prognosis has been poor. Case:
A patient with a virilizing steroid tumor, otherwise unspecified, with
demonstrated progressive disease after surgical debulking. Treatment
with multiagent chemotherapy failed, but the patient subsequently had
a robust response to GnRH agonist therapy. Conclusion: GnRH analogue t
reatment should be considered prior to cytotoxic chemotherapy in cases
of steroid tumor, not otherwise specified. (Obstet Gynecol 1998;92: 6
