Abstract
The 5p-subshell spectrum of Yb I has been photographed at high resolut ion in the wavelength range 250-550 angstrom. Twenty seven new lines h ave been revealed including three probable Rydberg series converging o n three new limits. The spectrum has been re-analysed through comparis on with ab initio calculations.
