Abstract
It is shown that the resistive state emerging upon an increase in temp erature in the region below the critical point in the Meissner phase o f superconductors can be detected by measuring the variation of the fr ozen magnetic field in a mesoscopic hollow cylindrical sample upon its heating in the superconducting state. Owing to magnetic flux quantiza tion, the decrease in the magnetic field upon heating must be step-wis e. (C) 1998 American Institute of Physics. [S1063-777X(98)00108-X].
