By using Pearson's HSAB principle [Ag(Toluene)(3)](+) [{((SiMe3)(3)C)(
2)Al2F5}(2)Li](-) (2) has been synthesized from the reaction of [(SiMe
3)(3)CalF(2)](3) (1) with AgF and LiCl. Reaction of 1 with AgF2 and NH
4F affords [AlF2(THF)(4)](+) [{(SiMe3)(3)C}Al2F5](-) (3) and [NH4](+)
[(SiMe3)(3)CalF(3)](-) (4), respectively. 2 and 3 have been structural
ly characterized.
