A unified boundary element formulation for solving elastoplastic conta
ct problems with friction and varying contact surface is presented. Th
e volume integration encountered often in plastic structural computati
on is avoided by introducing some particular integrals. The similariti
es of complementarity conditions for both contact and plastic analyses
make it possible to express the contact criterion and plastic flow ru
le in the same way. The resulting PLCP (Parametric Linear Complementar
ity Problem) formulation is implemented in an existing PLCP elastic fr
ictional contact modular code of a general purpose boundary element an
alysis system.
