J. Tormos et al., DESCRIPTIONS OF MATURE LARVAE OF 2 AMISEGINAE, WITH A DISCUSSION OF LARVAL CHARACTERS IN THE CHRYSIDIDAE (HYMENOPTERA), Annals of the Entomological Society of America, 91(5), 1998, pp. 598-601
The mature larvae of 2 species of Amiseginae - Adelphe anisomorphae Kr
ombein and Myrmecomimesis bispinosus (Riek) - are described. These lar
vae share with other Chrysididae and with Bethylidae a simple atrium a
nd an opening toward the unarmed subatrium. As in the Bethylidae, they
lack a coronal suture and parietal bands. Several characters are shar
ed with Cleptinae and Chrysidinae (Chrysididae): a labrum with sensill
a and a notched anterior margin, and a well-developed peritreme. The p
resence of 2 antennal sensilla. and the absence of setae on labrum and
maxillae are, among the Chrysididae exclusive to Amiseginae. The phyl
ogenetic importance of these preimaginal structures is discussed.
