Abstract
The unoccupied molecular orbitals of the nucleic acid bases uracil, ad enine and guanine adsorbed on a Cu(110) surface have been studied by i nverse photoemission spectroscopy (IPES). By comparison with mo calcul ations the assignment of the pi affinity levels of these organic syst ems is suggested. Good agreement with optical measurements is found.
