Abstract
The magnetic of very thin transition metal films are investigated. The different steps of such a study we discussed: determination, from the electronic structure, of the chemical order in the monolayer range, t hen computation of the magnetic order at T = 0 K. Finally the temperat ure effects we considered. This approach is applied to the Co/Cu(001) system, with a good agreement with experimental results.
