DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE OF ATM WIRELESS ACCESS PROTOTYPE

NTT is conducting research and development of the ATM wireless access system to achieve the maximum information transmission rate of approxi mately 10 Mbit/s per user for portable terminals such as notebook PCs at any time and any place. This paper defines the overall requirements for the prototype with the fastest transmission rate in the world app lied to the wireless access service and specifies the technical proble ms in development. It also explains solutions to the problems and desc ribes the design and basic operation sequence of the developed prototy pe to show that the target performance was achieved.
