Using numerical simulations we elucidate a novel phenomenon of electro
n thermal conduction in a two-temperature, dense plasma produced by fe
mtosecond lasers. We also illustrate that the phase shift and amplitud
e of an optical probe reflected from the rear surface of a laser-heate
d thin foil offers a new means of testing theoretical models of conduc
tivities and electron-ion equilibration rates of dense, strongly coupl
ed plasma.
