This study is based on the analysis of the data obtained through a yea
rlong thermal comfort survey in one of the even naturally ventilated b
uildings in Oxford. It is concerned with how much the use of available
controls contributes to thermal comfort by modifying the indoor therm
al environment. The results show that the availability of the controls
and their appropriate use plays a significant role in modifying the i
ndoor thermal conditions. Cross ventilation plays a significant role i
n lowering the indoor temperature. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All
