Abstract
Centrosymmetric dimers are formed in the structure through two I atoms bridging two Te atoms. Te is seven-coordinated, bound to four S atoms , two intramolecular axial I atoms and one intermolecular planar bridg ing I atom, in a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal geometry. The non-br idging I atoms in the dimer have a secondary interaction with similar I atoms of other dimers.
