Abstract
X-ray-diffraction and Raman data have been obtained for glasses in the system (100-x)As2S3-xCuI (x = 0,...,20). The position of the first sh arp diffraction peak is found at similar to 13 nm(-1), nearly independ ent of concentration of CuI. From its width the correlation lengths (R -c) were calculated, The experimental results indicate that addition o f CuI to glassy As2S3 causes strong changes in R-c, but there are no s ignificant changes in the Raman spectra of these glasses. Results are discussed with the framework of the ''layer structure'' model for amor phous As2S3. They support the picture of isolated and chemically nonre acting CuI molecules between deformed As2S3 layers.
