Abstract
Metal-oxygen linear chain compounds, [Cu(bipy)Cr2O7](infinity) (1) (bi py = 2,2'-bipyridine), [Ni(en)(2)Cr2O2](infinity) (2) (en = ethylenedi amine), and [{Ni(bipy)(2)Cr2O7}(CH3CN)](infinity) (3) have been prepar ed and characterized. X-ray structural analyses of 1 to 3 revealed thr ee chain structures: parallel in 1, layers of chains which criss-cross in 2, and helical in 3.
