Trimethylphosphineborane (1) reacted with [CpRuCl](4) to lead the une
xpected chloride transfer from ruthenium to boron affording a chlorotr
ihydroborato ruthenium complex [CpRu(PMe3)(eta(2)-BH3Cl)] (2) in 44%
yield. The structure of 2 was elucidated by X-ray crystallography. Rea
ction of 1 with [CpRuCl2](2) produced a dichlorodihydroborato complex
[CPRu(PMe3)(eta(2)-BH2Cl2)] (3) besides 2.
