Sa. Abugov et al., RESULTS OF ENDOVASCULAR STENTING OF BIFURCATIONAL CORONARY-ARTERY STENOSES IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC-HEART-DISEASE, Kardiologia, 38(8), 1998, pp. 7-11
Of 134 patients with ischemic heart disease and stenoses located in bi
furcations of coronary arteries 54 were subjected to conventional ball
oon angioplasty and in 80 stents were deployed (matrix stents in 39 an
d wire coil in 41 patients). Balloon angioplasty was associated with h
igh frequency of side branch damage, high number of unfavorable result
s of dilatation of the target vessel (residual stenosis exceeding 30%
in 13%, thrombosis - 9,3% of cases), and high restenosis rate (51,5%).
Implantation of both types of stents led to significant improvement o
f immediate and long-term results of dilatation of a target vessel whi
le side branch damages were less frequent when wire stents were used.
