P. Ulmschneider et Ze. Musielak, ON THE GENERATION OF NONLINEAR MAGNETIC TUBE WAVES IN THE SOLAR ATMOSPHERE - II - LONGITUDINAL TUBE WAVES, Astronomy and astrophysics (Berlin), 338(1), 1998, pp. 311-321
The nonlinear time-dependent response to external pressure fluctuation
s acting on a thin vertical magnetic flux tube embedded in the solar a
tmosphere is investigated numerically. The continuous and impulsive fl
uctuations are imposed on the tube at different atmospheric heights an
d the resulting longitudinal tube wave energy fluxes are calculated fo
r an observationally established range of velocity amplitudes and tube
magnetic fields. The obtained results show that typical wave energy f
luxes carried by nonlinear longitudinal tube waves are of the order of
2 . 10(8) erg/cm(2)s, which is roughly a factor of 30 less than the f
lux for transverse waves. In contrast to our linear analytical results
the generated nonlinear longitudinal tube wave fluxes can be up to an
order of magnitude higher.
